‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Reportedly Set to Link Up with the MCU in Upcoming Disney+ Series
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is reportedly set to connect with the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again in an upcoming Disney+ series.
Alex Perez, during a recent AMA, revealed that the show will have links to VISION QUEST, the working title for a new miniseries focused on the character Vision.
VISION QUEST is a spin-off from the 2021 series WandaVision and is created by Terry Matalas for Disney+.
The series will be the 18th television project in the MCU produced by Marvel Studios and is set to share continuity with the films of the franchise. Matalas is serving as showrunner and director for the eight-episode series.
Paul Bettany will return as Vision, reprising his role from previous MCU projects. The cast also includes James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, and Orla Brady.
The series was first announced in 2022, with Jac Schaeffer originally developing it as a spin-off from WandaVision. By May 2024, Matalas had taken over redevelopment, and Bettany was confirmed to return.
Filming for VISION QUEST began in March at Pinewood Studios in London and wrapped in late July. Several directors worked on the episodes, including Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, and Matalas himself. Throughout production, the cast expanded to include other AI characters, some of which are returning from earlier MCU projects.
The series is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026 and will be part of Phase Six of the MCU.
Connecting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back to the main MCU is exciting for longtime fans who have followed the series since it first aired. It feels like Marvel is bringing its TV and film worlds closer together. Do you think this will add more depth to the MCU? Share your thoughts in the comments.
