Robert De Niro Unleashes Hell as Trump’s FCC Chair on Kimmel’s Return
Jimmy Kimmel’s return to late-night television got a wild start on Tuesday when Robert De Niro made a surprise cameo. The actor appeared as the new FCC chair, pretending to be appointed by Donald Trump.
De Niro’s appearance came during Kimmel’s first monologue since his recent suspension, which had caught the attention of real FCC chair Brendan Carr.
Instead of Carr appearing, De Niro played a tough, mob-style version of the FCC head, delivering a performance full of expletives and sharp satire.
“So you tell Whoopi over there, she better show a little respect, or the only view she’s getting is from under George Washington. The bridge, not the guy,” he joked, referencing Whoopi Goldberg and her ABC talk show.
When Kimmel asked if Goldberg was being threatened, De Niro replied, “I would never threaten Miss Goldstein. I was just teaching a lesson about consequences.”
Kimmel then commented on the FCC’s supposed tactics, saying, “It seems like the FCC is using mob tactics to suppress free speech.” De Niro didn’t hold back, firing off a profanity-filled response: “What the f** did you just say to me? I am the f**** FCC. I can f***** say whatever the f*** I want. Look. It’s just me, Jimmy, the chairman of the FCC, gently suggesting that you gently shut the f*** up.”*
The actor continued with a satirical take on censorship and fines, adding, “Speech, it ain’t free no more. We’re charging by the word now.” When Kimmel asked about the rates, De Niro joked, “Depends on what you want to say. Like if you want to say something nice about the president’s beautiful, thick, yellow hair or how he can do his makeup better than any broad, that’s free. But if you want to do a joke like he’s so fat he needs two seats on the Epstein jet, that’s gonna cost you.”
