‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ Teases Exciting Season 2 Preview
Studio Madhouse has released a new preview for the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, featuring the protagonist Fern and Stark exploring a cave filled with crystals.
According to the official website, Season 2 of the TV anime “Funeral of Freiren” will start airing on Friday nights at 11pm on Nippon Television’s network of 30 stations, “FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT,” beginning January 16, 2026.
The new key visual shows Freiren, Fern, and Stark floating in a crystal-like space, hinting at challenges and adventures not seen in the first season. The website adds, “The visual builds anticipation for the epic story of the journey of Freiren and the other three in Season 2!”
The anime first premiered as a two-hour special on September 29, 2023, on Nippon TV’s Kin’yō Road Show, a slot usually reserved for feature films, making it the first anime series to debut there.
Subsequent episodes aired on the Friday Anime Night block and concluded on March 22, 2024. Toho later released the series in seven DVD and Blu-ray sets between January and July 2024.
In September 2024, a second season was officially confirmed, with the premiere set for January 16, 2026. Most of the original cast and staff are returning, though Tomoya Kitagawa will take over as director from Keiichirō Saitō. Daiki Harashina will act as assistant director, while Takasemaru, Keisuke Kojima, and Yuri Fujinaka join as new character designers, replacing Reiko Nagasawa.
Alongside the main series, eleven short episodes titled Sōsō no Frieren: Marumaru no Mahō were released on Toho Animation’s YouTube channel and Frieren’s official X and TikTok accounts from October 11, 2023, to March 24, 2024.
This new preview makes Season 2 look promising, and fans can expect more magical adventures and emotional storytelling.
