One Piece Star Iñaki Godoy Picks His Favorite Arcs, Fans Are Divided

Iñaki Godoy, who stars as Luffy in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece, recently shared his favorite arcs from the series in an interview with Teen Vogue, and fans had plenty to say about his picks.

When asked to choose between the Arlong Park and Romance Dawn arcs, Godoy went with Arlong Park. “I mean, I think it’s going to be Arlong Park, just because, it’s the climax you know,” he explained.

Next, he had to pick between Drum Island and Water 7. Godoy avoided spoiling the live-action show but leaned toward Water 7. “I don’t want to get into that, you know, spoiler territory for people, for people who are watching the live-action, but Water 7 is some Peak entertainment. You know what’s going on there. There’s a pretty dramatic moment. So Water 7.”

For the matchup between Alabasta and Marineford, Godoy went with Alabasta. “Ooooh, you see that’s intense, what I like about Marineford, is that so many characters appear, right? But Alabasta is like the first like really really good arc in One Piece I think. I mean don’t get me wrong everything before is also good but Alabasta, just like, takes the stakes so much higher. I think I will go on Alabasta on this one. Just because it set the stage for everything to come.”

When choosing between Enies Lobby and Sabaody Archipelago, Godoy didn’t hesitate. “Enies Lobby, come on guys.”

He also picked Impel Down, hinting at some alliances that will appear in the live-action series. Later, he considered Dressrosa, Long Ring Long Land, and Skypiea, narrowing his final choice to Enies Lobby versus Impel Down.

He ultimately picked Enies Lobby. “Enies Lobby, I guess you’re wondering what Enies Lobby is if you haven’t watched seen the anime or read the manga, well, if you watch One Piece live-action season 2 on Netflix you can start, you know, getting there So I suggest that.”

Fans immediately reacted to his rankings online, sparking debates. Some agreed with him, with one fan writing, “Solid choice. It was 19 years before Enies Lobby was dethroned as my favourite arc. Now that honour goes to Egghead.”

Others were skeptical. “Homie isn’t caught up then 🤣” one fan commented, while another added, “I mean the only arc that is arguably better is Marineford. Post timeskip arcs as a whole are pretty a** IMO.”

Even with the differing opinions, many fans recognized the strength of the Water 7 to Enies Lobby story arc. “Water 7-Ennies Lobby is peak in fiction,” one fan noted.

Godoy’s picks show his personal connection to the story, especially with the live-action adaptation in mind. Whether fans agree or not, it’s clear that these arcs remain some of the most beloved in the One Piece universe.
