Leonardo DiCaprio continues to prove his staying power at the box office. His latest film, One Battle After Another, opened at number one in the U.S. and Canada this past weekend, earning $22.4 million.

Worldwide, the film made $48.5 million in just its first few days. Industry analysts had expected the movie to make between $20 million and $25 million domestically, though some predicted it could reach $30 million.

With this release, DiCaprio has now opened films at number one across four different decades, an achievement few actors have reached.

His streak began in 1997 with Titanic, which opened in North America on December 19. The film earned $8.65 million on its first day and $28.6 million over its opening weekend, topping the box office and setting records for the holiday season.

DiCaprio’s next milestone came in 2006 with Martin Scorsese’s The Departed. The film debuted with $26.9 million and went on to gross $132.4 million in the U.S. and Canada, plus another $159 million internationally. It became the fourth Scorsese film to open at number one and maintained strong performance in the following weeks.

In 2010, DiCaprio starred in Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Opening in over 3,700 theaters in North America, including 195 IMAX locations, the film earned $21.8 million on its first day and $62.7 million over the opening weekend.

It was the second-highest opening for a non-sequel or original sci-fi film at the time. Inception stayed at the top of the box office for several weeks, with only modest declines before dropping to second place in its fourth week.

We can conclude that a few actors have managed to remain box office draws across four decades like DiCaprio. His ability to select projects that appeal to wide audiences has made him one of Hollywood’s most consistent stars.
