Former WWE star Adam Scherr, once known to fans as Braun Strowman, is aiming to trade the wrestling ring for Hollywood. Scherr recently revealed that he has stepped back from wrestling and now wants to focus fully on acting.

Speaking with Collider, Scherr confirmed his shift away from the sport that made him famous. “I’m semi-retired from wrestling now too because I want to be an actor,” he said.

When asked which movie series he would like to join, Scherr didn’t take long to answer. “Oh, Friday the 13th. Jason,” he replied, even saying he would shave his trademark beard if it meant getting the role.

The former WWE powerhouse also hinted that conversations about the role may already be happening. “There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency. If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the things to work, I might be the next Voorhees,” he added.

The Friday the 13th franchise has been surrounded by reboot talks for years. In 2023, writer Jeff Locker teamed up with Jeremy Weiss and original creator Sean S. Cunningham to pitch a new version of the film. Despite that, Cunningham later explained in 2024 that a new movie wouldn’t hit theaters for a while, as studios were cautious about its success.

However, the situation seems to be moving again. Earlier this year, in July, producer Robbie Barsamian revealed that both a new movie and a video game based on the franchise are in development. That news could line up with Scherr’s hopes of putting on Jason’s mask for the big screen.

Scherr’s transition into acting looks serious, and his mix of size, presence, and physicality might make him a natural fit for the role of the silent slasher.

If Adam Scherr does get the chance to play Jason Voorhees, it could be an interesting new chapter for both him and the franchise. His background in wrestling gives him the size and intensity to pull it off. But fans may be divided on whether he can bring something fresh to such an iconic horror figure. What do you think?
