‘Oppenheimer’ Star Hurt in St. John’s Collision with Police Car
Actor Josh Hartnett was taken to hospital in St. John’s after the vehicle he was in collided with a police patrol car early Thursday morning.
The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. at the corner of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue, according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
RNC spokesperson Const. James Cadigan said in a statement that police are reviewing the incident and asking the public to share any footage or details that might help the investigation.
Hartnett, who is currently in Newfoundland working on a Netflix series, was riding as a passenger in an SUV when the collision took place. A source connected to the production told CBC News the actor was on his way back from filming when the crash occurred.
He was taken to hospital with another man in the same vehicle, a 59-year-old. Police said both appeared to have only minor injuries. The officer behind the wheel of the patrol car was also brought to hospital as a precaution.
The project Hartnett is working on is still untitled. Online listings describe it as a drama about a fisherman fighting to defend his small town after a sea creature begins attacking the community.
It’s good news that no one was seriously hurt. Car crashes can happen to anyone, even well-known actors, and it reminds us how unpredictable life can be. What do you think about this story? Share your thoughts in the comments.
