The DC Universe has already entered a new era under James Gunn and Peter Safran, with projects rolling out one after another.

Things started last year with the animated series Creature Commandos, and earlier this summer fans got the first live-action chapter with Superman. The momentum continued with Peacemaker Season 2, which is now nearing its finale after a shocking twist in episode six, titled Ignorance is Chris.

But that’s only the beginning. Several other projects are in different stages of development, including Supergirl, which is already in post-production, Clayface, which is filming, and Gunn’s own Man of Tomorrow, set for release in 2027.

There are also more titles in the works like The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and an untitled Wonder Woman movie. On top of that, DC fans can expect new adaptations centered on the Teen Titans, Bane, Deathstroke, and more.

Now, in a recent interview with GQ, Gunn revealed even more about what’s happening behind the scenes. He said there are two film scripts he is especially excited about. “Right now, there’s actually two really cool film scripts that I’m hoping to take to the next level that we have general plans for, and I’m excited about both of those,” Gunn explained.

He also mentioned that there’s one TV project he’s eager to get moving. “And then I’m excited about one TV project in particular. I don’t know why we’re not greenlighted on that already—it’s just figuring out the budget. So there’s a couple of things that are very present that I’m excited about.”

Along with those, Gunn confirmed he is keeping a close eye on ongoing projects. “Dealing with getting Supergirl into shape, all these other things. Watching episodes of Lanterns—that’s coming along well. So, it’s really just dealing a little bit with everything and then mostly Man of Tomorrow. That’s the biggest thing for me. I mean we go into production in April, so it may seem like far away to you, but to me, it seems awful close.”

It’s clear that Gunn is juggling multiple projects while building out the new DCU, with Man of Tomorrow currently sitting at the top of his priorities.

It’s exciting to see Gunn laying out so much at once, balancing new characters while shaping the future of Superman and other iconic heroes. The variety of projects shows he’s not just sticking to safe choices but expanding the DCU in bold ways.

What do you think, should Gunn focus more on classic characters like Batman and Superman, or give the spotlight to new heroes and villains? Share your thoughts in the comments.
