Fans of Kill Bill have a new reason to get excited this December. Lionsgate will release Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair as a single, complete movie on December 5.

The film combines the original two volumes into one full story, removing the cliffhanger from Vol. 1 and the recap at the start of Vol. 2.

This theatrical release also includes a 7½-minute animated sequence that has never been seen before. Some screenings will be shown in 70mm and 35mm, giving audiences a chance to experience the movie on a big, classic film format.

Tarantino has mentioned the idea of including animated footage since as early as 2014 at San Diego Comic-Con.

“I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie,” Tarantino said. “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in Glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”

Lionsgate, which is handling the release, also manages the distribution of Tarantino’s other films, including Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Death Proof.

The story follows Uma Thurman as The Bride, who is ambushed by her former lover and boss, Bill, during her wedding rehearsal.

She survives the attack but loses her unborn child, and sets out on a mission to take revenge. Her quest includes tracking down the remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad before finally confronting Bill. Together, the original Kill Bill films earned $333 million worldwide.

The film also stars Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Gordon Liu, Michael Parks, and David Carradine as Bill. Lawrence Bender produced the movie, while Tarantino wrote and directed it, based on his character, The Bride, created with Q&U.
