‘Dune’ Star Confirms Return for Part Three: “I’m Not Sure I Was Supposed To Be In It”

Rebecca Ferguson has confirmed that she will return for Dune: Part Three, the final film in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi trilogy.

The actress revealed that she has already filmed her scenes, though her role will be smaller this time.

“I don’t have a big part in this one, [she’s] just barely in the book. I’m not sure I was supposed to be in it and Denis had a little idea,” Ferguson said.

She also praised the script, calling it “phenomenal” and noting the challenge of adapting such a dense novel.

“The script is phenomenal. It’s really hard to create a film, it’s such a dense book. There’s so much to tell. [Denis] does dip in and out and he does try and he does want to have certain connections and tentacles to the book. Whatever Denis touches I think is phenomenal.”

Dune: Part Three is based on Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah and continues the story from Dune: Part Two. Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts and directs the film.

The movie will bring back key cast members, including Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica. Robert Pattinson joins the cast for the first time.

The story will also focus on Paul and Chani’s children, Leto II and Ghanima, played by Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke. Production began in July, and Warner Bros. Pictures has scheduled the film’s release in the United States for December 18, 2026.
