Ron Dean, the veteran actor known for his roles in films like The Dark Knight and The Breakfast Club, has passed away at the age of 87. According to his longtime partner Maggie Neff, Dean died this past Sunday, though the cause of death has not been disclosed.
“He passed at exactly 4pm, after his beloved sisters had said their goodbyes,” Neff said in a heartfelt statement.
“He hung on like a warrior to say goodbye to his little sisters. Then we were alone, and in my arms, I held his hand, and he trusted me when I told him that it was alright to let go. What an honor!” She said.
Dean’s career spanned decades, and he became a staple of Chicago’s acting scene. Known for his commanding presence and versatility, he appeared in iconic films such as The Dark Knight, where he brought depth to his supporting role, and the beloved teen classic The Breakfast Club.
He also appeared in numerous television series, establishing himself as a reliable character actor.
“Ron Dean was my dear friend and a tremendous actor. He was the essence of what Chicago talent represented,” said a colleague, Davis. “Having a very troubled youth, Ron turned his life around to have a wonderful career as a loving, decent human being and respected talent.”
