Rebecca Ferguson is opening up again about the tense encounter she had with a male co-star who she says yelled at her during filming.

In a new interview with The Times in the U.K., the Mission: Impossible star shared more details about the incident she first mentioned in 2024 on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast.

At the time, she called the actor an “idiot” and said the confrontation left her in tears.

Ferguson recalled that the actor mocked her on set, saying things like, “You call yourself an actor?” She said the exchange shook her but made her stand up for herself. “I remember being so scared,” she said. “And I looked at this person and said, ‘You can eff off. I’m going to work toward a tennis ball. I never want to see you again.’”

She said the next day she told the production team that she didn’t want to work with the actor again. Ferguson explained that she hasn’t spoken to the person since her comments went public and doesn’t plan to. She also said she knows others have had a similar experience with him.

The actress admitted that the situation was complicated, adding, “I was not blameless.” She went on to explain how difficult it can be to stand up for yourself in the industry. “I will shove someone under a bus in front of an entire crew to make a point,” she said.

“I don’t applaud my own behavior in that. It’s a really tricky world. We put a lot of blame on bullies, and when we get older, we can understand that people are insecure. When you start standing up for yourself, it’s really tricky. They’ll fire you and give the job to someone else.”

Ferguson also made it clear that the co-star in question was not Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman, or Ryan Reynolds. She did, however, speak fondly of Cruise, jokingly calling him a “man child,” but clarifying that she meant it in a good way.

The two have worked together on three Mission: Impossible films, which she described as both exciting and exhausting. “You don’t have scripts and have no idea where it’s going to go, which is annoying and tedious and glorious,” she said. “You train for a stunt scene for months, and all of a sudden they cut it.”

Looking ahead, Ferguson is currently filming Dune: Part Three, where she returns as Lady Jessica. She said the script is “phenomenal” and that production is still underway.

She will also star in Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming Netflix film A House of Dynamite, playing a White House aide who leads the Situation Room during a nuclear crisis. Ferguson said the film isn’t meant to comment on current politics but rather to question global power and responsibility.

“The film is not about criticizing who’s in charge, it’s questioning the fact that we have such a stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world and we don’t talk about it,” she said. “Nine countries have active nuclear weapons, but only three are part of NATO. What does that mean? What does it mean that one human being can start a nuclear war?”
