HBO Max Announces Release Date for Return of a Fan-Favorite Animated Series With a New Trailer
Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake is back for a second season, and HBO Max has finally shared the details fans have been waiting for. The new season will start streaming on October 23, and will feature ten episodes, with a new episode coming out each week.
The final episode is set to air on December 25, so viewers will have to keep up each week to catch the whole story. Warner Bros. confirmed this schedule during New York Comic Con 2025.
The first full trailer for Season 2 was also released during the event, giving fans their first real look at what’s coming. The show first premiered on August 31, 2023, and quickly became a hit. Because of its success, HBO Max greenlit a second season soon after the first.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake is an adult animated series created by Adam Muto. It is a spin-off of the original Cartoon Network series Adventure Time and is the third main installment in the franchise.
Fred Seibert and Sam Register are executive producers along with Muto, who led the show as showrunner for the last six seasons of Adventure Time and worked on the Distant Lands specials.
The series follows Fionna the Human and Cake the Cat, gender-swapped versions of the original Adventure Time heroes Finn and Jake. It also features Simon Petrikov, previously known as the Ice King in Adventure Time.
Fionna lives in a world without magic and spends her days going through dead-end jobs, but she dreams at night of a magical universe where she can find purpose. Meanwhile, Simon works from home in a version of the Land of Ooo, facing similar worries and anxieties. Together, they travel across the multiverse, while a mysterious antagonist tries to erase them from existence.
Adam Muto described the show’s premise during the Comic Con event, saying, “Fionna and Cake’s world is both familiar and strange. Fans will see new adventures but also feel the same heart and humor that made Adventure Time special.”
With the new season just around the corner, fans now have a clear schedule to follow and plenty of excitement building. HBO Max is the exclusive home for this series, so viewers can watch each episode as it comes out starting October 23.
