New ‘Miraculous’ Movie in the Works to Mark 10-Year Anniversary
The beloved animated franchise Miraculous, which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year, is gearing up for a brand-new theatrical film.
The upcoming movie is being developed by Miraculous Corp, a joint venture between Mediawan and Zag, the company founded by Miraculous creator Jeremy Zag.
Producer John Cohen, known for Despicable Me and The Angry Birds Movie, and writer Matt Roller, who worked on Rick and Morty and Community, have joined the team.
Jeremy Zag, who directed the first Miraculous feature, will return as a producer. The announcement came from Andy Yeatman, CEO of Miraculous Corp USA and global operations, and was published by Variety.
The new movie will continue the story of the franchise that has captured fans around the world. The first film, Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir, was a hit in 2023. While it streamed on Netflix in regions like the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, it saw major success at the European box office, earning over $40 million.
The film featured eight original songs and was notable as the first female-led superhero musical set in Paris.
Miraculous has become a global phenomenon thanks to its combination of exciting superhero action, relatable characters, and its Parisian setting.
The show and movies celebrate girl power while appealing to kids and families worldwide, making it one of the most successful animated franchises of the past decade.
Cohen and Roller are expected to bring fresh ideas to the next installment, working alongside Zag to deliver another fun and inspiring adventure for fans. “We are thrilled to continue the Miraculous legacy with this new film,” Yeatman said, highlighting the franchise’s enduring popularity.
Miraculous has proven it can connect with audiences worldwide, blending humor, action, and music in a way few animated series manage. A new film for the 10-year anniversary feels like the perfect way to celebrate its success. Are you excited to see what happens next in Paris with Ladybug and Cat Noir?
