Mia Goth Responds to Background Actor’s Lawsuit Over Alleged Battery and Wrongful Termination on The Set ‘MaXXXine’
Mia Goth, star of the horror film MaXXXine, has spoken briefly about a lawsuit filed against her by a background actor, James Hunter, who claims he was assaulted on set.
In an interview with Elle magazine published Tuesday, Goth said, “I’m unable to speak to any of that at the moment, but I think if anyone was to do a simple search, they would see what the facts are. They can draw their own conclusions. It’s still an ongoing process.”
The lawsuit, first reported by TheWrap, alleges that during filming in January 2024, Hunter, who was hired for a minor role as a “Dead Parishioner,” was intentionally kicked in the head by Goth while lying on the ground.
Hunter claims that after the incident, he reported it to the assistant director but says Goth mocked and taunted him in a bathroom. He alleges that the kick caused a concussion.
Hunter also claims the fake blood used for the scene had dried on his skin and clothing, causing additional pain when he removed his costume. According to the legal documents, he experienced prolonged headaches and nearly lost consciousness twice while driving home from the set.
The actor says he was then told he was no longer needed for the rest of the shoot. He is suing Goth for battery and has also filed wrongful termination claims against MaXXXine’s director Ti West and production company A24.
This case is still ongoing, and no further details have been officially confirmed by the courts or the production team.
These situations are always complicated and can affect everyone involved in a film. Mia Goth’s careful response shows she’s leaving the matter to the legal process. What do you think about the lawsuit and how it’s being handled? Share your thoughts in the comments.
