Rapper Playboi Carti has been charged with misdemeanor assault after an alleged altercation with a limo driver in Utah earlier this month.

The incident reportedly took place on October 2 in Park City, where Carti was in town for his Antagonist Tour.

According to law enforcement reports obtained by KSL, limo driver Carl Reynolds told police that Carti became aggressive while being transported from the Waldorf Astoria to rehearsal. Reynolds claims the situation escalated after an argument in the back seat involving Carti and his girlfriend.

Reynolds said he tried to intervene and says Carti threatened both him and his girlfriend reports TMZ.

While Reynolds did not directly witness Carti striking his girlfriend, he reported seeing her “hunched over holding near her chest.” Police say Reynolds asked Carti’s head of security to remove the rapper from the vehicle, but during that process, he alleges Carti punched him.

Reynolds suffered a bruised, swollen jaw and a whiplash-like injury, according to the police report. Another driver reportedly witnessed the alleged assault.

The Wasatch County Police Department confirmed that they were called to the scene and documented Reynolds’ injuries. Reynolds, who was working for ALC A Limousine Connection at the time, says he plans to hire an attorney but mainly wants to prevent anyone else from getting hurt.

Carti was officially cited for assaulting Reynolds, not his girlfriend. Representatives for the rapper have not responded to requests for comment.

This incident raises questions about the pressures and conflicts that can occur on tour and behind the scenes for high-profile artists. While no one should face violence, it also shows the importance of clear boundaries and proper security measures during such interactions.
