Marvel Rivals is getting a big update soon, bringing something fans have been waiting for since the game’s release , a brand-new PvE mode. The mode is called “Marvel Zombies,” and it’s based on the Disney+ animated series created by Marvel Animation.

In this new mode, up to four players can team up to fight endless waves of zombie enemies. The playable heroes include Thor, Magik, Punisher, Jeff the Shark, and Blade. Each character will have special powers and boosts that only appear in this mode, giving players different ways to survive the onslaught.

The challenge doesn’t stop there. Two major bosses will appear — Zombie Namor and Scarlet Witch in her terrifying “Queen of the Dead” form, both pulled straight from the Marvel Zombies show.

Under Khonshu’s shadow, the Queen of the Dead commands her undead army to take over Midtown. Unite with Marvel’s mightiest heroes and face her in the Marvel Rivals’ first-ever PvE mode – Marvel Zombies! Watch the official trailer now – the outbreak begins October 23 UTC! It’s time to assemble, stand together, and fight for the living. During the battles, you can purchase upgrades between waves to enhance your heroes’ abilities and strategies!

This update marks the first time Marvel Rivals adds a cooperative PvE experience, breaking away from its usual player-versus-player focus.

It’s a fresh addition that also fits perfectly with the Halloween season. Zombies have long been a favorite theme in games, and this mode seems like a fun nod to that era while still tying into the Marvel universe.

Developer NetEase hasn’t shared what rewards or progression systems players can expect from the mode yet. But earlier this month, the team confirmed that zombie-themed skins are coming for several heroes, including Blade, Spider-Man, and Scarlet Witch.

A longer trailer and more details are expected to drop before the official launch of “Marvel Zombies” on Thursday, October 23.
