The fifth and final season of The Boys is shaping up to be a high-stakes battle against a fascist government, according to series creator Eric Kripke.

Speaking about the upcoming season, Kripke revealed that the story will focus on an underground resistance led by Starlight, with A-Train playing an important role alongside her.

“Part of the fun of wrapping out season two that way is that we really get to set the table for season five, where there’s now this active and growing resistance led by Starlight that A-Train is an important part of. They’re really trying to take the fight back to Homelander and this sort of fascist government,” Kripke told THR.

The season will continue to feature the main cast, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, and others, while also introducing Daveed Diggs.

While the resistance plays a bigger role, Kripke stressed that the show will remain focused on the original The Boys characters. “By the same respect, we still work hard to try to maintain our balance that The Boys is about The Boys, and Gen V is about Gen V. The characters provide crucial assists, but it’s still about The Boys, and you can watch it without having watched Gen V and vice versa. But watching both is still a much more fun experience,” he added.

The fifth season, produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Point Grey Pictures and other production companies, promises a mix of intense action, political intrigue, and character-driven storytelling.

Fans can expect to see the new resistance challenge Homelander’s authority and the oppressive systems he represents, raising the stakes higher than ever before.
