Stellan Skarsgård Says Son Bullied at School Over “Nepo Baby” Tag
Stellan Skarsgård has opened up about a difficult issue his youngest son is facing. In an interview with Vulture, the actor revealed that 13-year-old Kolbjörn has been bullied at school because of his famous family.
Some classmates have been calling him a “nepo baby,” a term often used for children of celebrities.
“My 13-year-old, Kolbjörn, the youngest, suffers from that,” Skarsgård said. “When his pals at school call him nepo baby, he gets so sad. He doesn’t have any friends at school. He gets isolated. Cruel kids — or cruel and ignorant. But it is such a bull*** thing. Because nobody would hire you, at least not for anything good, if you’re not good enough.”
The Skarsgård family is well-known in the acting world. Stellan himself has appeared in many international films, including Good Will Hunting, Mamma Mia!, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dr. Erik Selvig.
His children have followed in his footsteps. Alexander Skarsgård has earned acclaim for roles in Big Little Lies and films like The Northman, while Bill Skarsgård gained worldwide fame for his terrifying performance as Pennywise in the It movies.
The family’s acting legacy extends further, with other children also working in the industry, making the Skarsgårds one of the most recognized acting families from Sweden.
Stellan emphasized that while some believe having famous parents makes it easier to succeed, talent and hard work remain essential in the entertainment industry. He hopes this helps people understand the challenges children of celebrities can face, including bullying and unfair assumptions.
The Skarsgårds’ story highlights how fame can bring both opportunities and pressures. Even with a family deeply rooted in acting, the younger generation can face unique struggles growing up in the public eye.
