Britney Spears’ Erratic Driving After Night Out Raises Concerns; Kevin Federline Voices Worry

Britney Spears is once again at the center of public concern after a recent night out. On Thursday, October 23, a video surfaced showing the pop star leaving Red-O, a restaurant in Thousand Oaks.

Witnesses told media outlets that Spears looked “spiraling” as she got into her black BMW. Several people tried to stop her before she drove off, but things quickly became dangerous, according to an onlooker.

One witness claimed Spears “nearly ran over her friend while pulling out” of the parking lot. In footage obtained by the outlet, the 43-year-old was seen swerving into opposite lanes, including a bike lane, on her way home to her Thousand Oaks estate.

At one point, she reportedly tailgated another car and appeared to put something in her mouth while stopped at a light.

When she arrived at her gated community, sources said she had trouble opening the entrance for several minutes. “She would key it in and drive up to the gate, but the gate would not open,” an insider said. “She did this three or four times. The friend never left her car. After 20 minutes, the friend [left]. Brit then spent another 10 minutes trying to get in and finally succeeded.”

The source suggested that the situation may be related to Kevin Federline’s new memoir, which came out recently. They said the book has reopened old wounds for Spears and has been “putting Britney in a tailspin.” “She’s acting out. She gets into these spirals and it just goes downhill fast,” the insider added. They noted that Spears has been struggling to handle everything resurfacing.

Federline has also expressed concern for Spears’ mental health, particularly regarding their sons, Jayden James, 19, and Sean Preston Federline, 20. Speaking ahead of his memoir’s release, he said, “I’m really worried. I’m absolutely, as a father, terrified that one day I might wake up and my sons are going to have to deal with the unimaginable. I kind of have to sound the alarm that I truly feel that somehow, some way, I just wish that their mom would get help.” He added that the reality is “10x worse than anything I’ve said in my book.”

In You Thought You Knew, Federline alleged that Spears once hit their eldest son and had an unhealthy attachment to their younger son, even making him bathe with her until he was 10 or 11. “It was clear he was uncomfortable, to put it mildly, and I had to step in and make it stop,” he wrote. He also described how their sons were sometimes scared of Spears when they were young.

“They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand. Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation,” he claimed.

Spears responded on Instagram and X, calling Federline’s claims misleading and painful. “The constant gaslighting from [my] ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life,” she wrote.

Spears also mentioned that her children have seen the “lack of respect shown by [their] own father for me” and that her sons have spent very little time with her over the past five years.

“I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available,” she added. Spears criticized Federline’s book, calling it full of “white lies” that will ‘go straight to the bank’ while she suffers the consequences.”

She concluded, “I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”

Spears and Federline were married in 2004 and divorced in 2006. They share two sons, who are now 19 and 20 years old.
