Sydney Sweeney Finally Addresses Glen Powell Dating Rumors

Sydney Sweeney is finally speaking out about the dating rumors that surrounded her and Glen Powell during the promotion of their film Anyone But You.

The romantic comedy generated a lot of buzz online, with fans and tabloids speculating about the chemistry between the two stars.

Sweeney told Variety that most of the rumors were created by the press. “Honestly, the press did it themselves. There was no leaning in, per se. Truly the tabloids and journalists just created it and kept going.”

“Even if we were just standing next to each other, it was ‘They’re standing two inches apart!’ Glen and I genuinely care for each other and have a love and respect for one another. I love being with him. And I think people just truly saw a really beautiful pairing,” she said.

The actors, both engaged at the time, did not publicly shut down the rumors, which only fueled fan speculation. Sweeney says that their on-screen connection could continue if a sequel is made. “We are always open to it. I think that when the right concept and script come to Glen and I, we will jump in hand in hand,” she added.

However, the speculation had real-life consequences. In 2023, Glen Powell and his fiancée Gigi Paris broke up.

Paris later shared on the “Too Much” podcast that the rumors about Powell and Sweeney contributed to the end of their relationship. She said she first noticed the speculation online and warned Powell, “The whole world is watching. Proceed with caution, please.”

Paris also revealed that while the movie was filming in Australia, Powell asked her not to visit the set, saying, “The producers and I have discussed that I think it’s best that you don’t come to visit.” Paris said that moment led her to fall out of love, and she ended the relationship shortly after. She later learned that Powell and Sweeney had encouraged some of the rumors to help promote the movie.
