Trump Goes Full Gamer: White House Posts AI Image of Him as Master Chief Ending “Console Wars”
The White House recently shared an unusual AI-generated image of President Donald Trump as Master Chief, the main character from the popular Halo video game series.
The post appeared on the official X account with the caption “Power to the players.” In the image, Trump wears the iconic green armor in front of a US flag and the White House.

The post was tied to a statement from GameStop about the so-called “console wars,” a long-running rivalry between video game platforms.
The statement read, “WHEREAS, for the past two decades, the global gaming community has been engaged in an ongoing and increasingly petty conflict known as The Console Wars. WHEREAS, said conflict originated in the early 2000s with the release of Halo: Combat Evolved as an Xbox-exclusive title. WHEREAS, Halo: Campaign Evolved is officially coming on PlayStation in 2026 with cross-platform play. THEREFORE, GameStop hereby declares the official cessation of the console wars. Power to the players.”

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved from 2001. While the series has been available on PC, it was only ever playable on Xbox consoles until now. The 2026 release on PlayStation 5 will mark the first time the game is officially playable on a non-Xbox console, including cross-platform support across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation.
The White House’s post of Trump as Master Chief comes in response to this news and continues a pattern of AI-generated images shared during his presidency.
While the reasoning appears to celebrate the end of console exclusivity, the post has already drawn reactions online for its unusual and unexpected style.
