New Teaser Released for ‘Toy Story 5’
A new teaser for “Toy Story 5” has been released by Entertainment Weekly, giving a first look at a fresh character joining the well-known Pixar story. The film introduces Blaze, a young girl voiced by Mykal-Michelle Harris, who becomes an important part of the new plot.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Blaze lives on a ranch with her family and plays a big role in the story when Jessie and Bullseye end up at her home. The location itself connects to Jessie’s past, bringing the story back to a place seen earlier in the series.
Harris shared details about her character in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She said, “I would describe Blaze as a spunky, funky, equestrian horse girl. She was raised on a ranch with her family, and she’s never afraid to be herself. She’s an older kid, but she’s not afraid to play with toys or to have a whole bunch of horse figurines. That’s kind of her thing.”
The main story begins with Bonnie, who is now older, being introduced to a device called Lilypad. Her parents hope it will help her connect with others, as many kids around her spend a lot of time on screens. Jessie then takes it upon herself to help Bonnie find real-world friendships, but things do not go as planned. During her journey, Jessie ends up far from home and back at a familiar location.

Blaze later finds Jessie and Bullseye and quickly forms a bond with them. Harris explained how their relationship develops, saying, “Blaze finds Jessie and Bullseye after a series of unfortunate events, and she immediately takes a liking to them. She obviously loves Bullseye because he’s a horse, and she loves Jessie as a cowboy. She immediately uses her in her playtime, and they have an instant connection, an instant bond. It takes a little bit of time for Jessie to like Blaze, but they do end up forming a connection.”
The film also introduces new toys living at Blaze’s home, including different gadgets and play items, while also bringing back familiar characters like Woody and Buzz.
Harris also spoke about the return to an earlier setting in the franchise. She said, “It’s amazing being able to be back at the very first house. The very first Toy Story was 30 years ago. They just had their anniversary last year. So I think that coming back to where everything began is such a nostalgic feeling because, at this point, there are almost four or five generations that have been introduced to this movie.”
“Toy Story 5” is set to release in theaters on June 19.
This new film seems to focus on both nostalgia and new ideas. Bringing the story back to an earlier setting while adding a new character like Blaze could work well if the balance is right. It will depend on how the story connects everything together. What do you think about this new character and the direction of “Toy Story 5”? Share your thoughts in the comments.
