‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Won’t Get an IMAX Release Next Summer — Here’s Why
Spider-Man fans expecting to see Tom Holland swing in IMAX next summer may be disappointed. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will not get an IMAX release in 2026, according to the recently revealed IMAX slate shared on X by Culture Crave.

The summer schedule shows that The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, will occupy all IMAX screens from July 17 to August 14, 2026.
This epic action film is the first to be shot entirely on IMAX’s 70 mm cameras, giving it a technical edge and a unique visual experience that demands full IMAX coverage.
Other movies on the 2026 IMAX calendar include Mercy starting January 23, The Bride! and Project Hail Mary in March, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael in April, and summer hits like Mortal Kombat II on May 8, The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22, Toy Story 5 on June 19, Supergirl on June 26, Minions 3 on July 1, and Moana on July 10. The Odyssey will then take over in mid-July until Flowervale Street arrives on August 14.
While Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s July 31 release would normally make it an IMAX feature, the scheduling clash with The Odyssey means fans will have to wait for other formats.
However, there is a silver lining for Tom Holland fans: he stars in The Odyssey as Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, King of Ithaca. The film follows his perilous journey home after the Trojan War and promises to be a visually striking epic.
This situation shows how IMAX scheduling sometimes prioritizes technical milestones and unique filming techniques over big franchise releases. While Marvel fans may be disappointed, seeing Holland in IMAX through The Odyssey might soften the blow.
