New ‘Stranger Things’ Spinoff Show Unveils First Images, Cast and Teaser Featurette
Netflix is expanding the world of Hawkins, Indiana, beyond the main series with a brand-new spinoff called Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.
The announcement came during the 2025 Stranger Things Day celebration, which included a first-look featurette, images from the show, and details about the voice cast.
Unlike the main series, which is ending with its fifth season, this new project takes the story in a different direction. It’s an animated series set in the 1980s that keeps the spirit of the original show while adding a retro cartoon feel. In the newly released images, fans can see the familiar gang of kids, including Mike, Eleven, Will, Lucas, Max, and Dustin—alongside elements from the Upside Down.

The voice cast introduces a new generation of actors. Brooklyn Davey Norstedt voices Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is Max, Luca Diaz is Mike, Elisha Williams plays Lucas, Braxton Quinney voices Dustin, Ben Plessala is Will, and Brett Gipson takes on Hopper. The show also features Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Speaking about the spinoff, the Duffer Brothers said the idea of an animated series was one of the first they pitched to Netflix when asked about potential spinoffs. Tales From ’85 stays true to the original by keeping the adventurous and spooky tone, but the new animation gives it a fresh look.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date, but the series is expected to premiere sometime in 2026. Fans will likely have to wait a bit longer for this new adventure to enter the Upside Down universe.
