A fresh sneak peek of Playdate has arrived, giving fans a glimpse of the wild action and humor packed into the upcoming movie starring Kevin James and Alan Ritchson.

The film, directed by Luke Greenfield and written by Neil Goldman, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 12.

The story follows Brian, played by Kevin James, a down-on-his-luck accountant who just wants a calm afternoon with his son and another dad, Jeff, played by Alan Ritchson. What starts as a regular playdate quickly spirals out of control when the two men and their kids are chased by a group of armed mercenaries. As chaos unfolds, Brian struggles to keep up while Jeff seems strangely prepared for every situation.

According to the official description, “Director Luke Greenfield hilariously collides suburban dad life with high-stakes thrills, transforming an ordinary afternoon into an absurd action-packed adventure where minivan mayhem meets professional hitmen.”

The film also features Sarah Chalke, Alan Tudyk, Stephen Root, Isla Fisher, Benjamin Pajak, and Banks Pierce in supporting roles. With such a lineup, Playdate promises a mix of sharp comedy and explosive action, carried by the chemistry between James and Ritchson.

Production took place in Vancouver, Canada, from March to April 2024. The project was first revealed in early 2024, when James and Ritchson were confirmed as the leads, followed soon after by the rest of the cast.

The newly released footage shows off the movie’s goofy energy and fast-paced tone. James brings his usual charm and comedic timing, while Ritchson balances it with his action-hero presence. Together, they create the kind of buddy dynamic that feels both ridiculous and fun to watch.

Playdate will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting November 12.
