Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is set to play a major role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and new reports are giving fans a clearer idea of what to expect from the God of Thunder this time around.

Thor was one of the first confirmed characters for the next Avengers film, which has quickly become one of Marvel’s most talked-about projects.

Fans have been eager to see if the movie will bring him back together with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, who has recently made waves through the Loki series on Disney+.

In a recent AMA session, insider Alex Perez shared some interesting details about Thor’s role in the film. A fan asked whether Thor’s storyline would be similar to Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he stayed with the main team throughout the movie, or more like Avengers: Infinity War, where he had a separate storyline before joining the fight.

Perez replied, “Technically both, because it starts as a subplot but joins in at a much earlier moment than the 3rd act, like he did in Infinity War.”

He also hinted that Thor will have a tough journey in Doomsday. “What I can tell you a bit about his role is that Thor really goes through it. He always seems like he has a lot to lose in these movies. To quote Frank Ocean, what’s a God to a non-believer?” Perez said.

Earlier rumors claimed that Thor Corps, a group of different versions of the character from across the multiverse, might appear in the movie.

Some unverified reports even suggested that Thor could die in Doomsday, serving as a farewell for Hemsworth’s long-running character. However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige seemed to calm those worries, saying that Hemsworth’s time as Thor isn’t ending anytime soon.

While Marvel has kept details about Avengers: Doomsday tightly under wraps, it’s clear that Thor will have a significant and emotional storyline. Whether he faces loss, redemption, or a new beginning, fans can expect to see a more layered version of the God of Thunder when the movie hits theaters.
