A new trailer has dropped for The Housemaid, a psychological thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. The movie, directed by Paul Feig, is based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel and is set to hit U.S. theaters on December 19 through Lionsgate.
The story follows Millie Calloway, played by Sydney Sweeney, a young woman trying to rebuild her life after a troubled past.
She takes a job as a live-in maid for a rich family, but her new beginning quickly turns dark when she discovers that her employers are hiding disturbing secrets behind their perfect image. Amanda Seyfried plays Nina Winchester, the lady of the house whose polished life starts to fall apart as the truth begins to surface.

Joining Sweeney and Seyfried in the cast are Brandon Sklenar as Andrew Winchester, Michele Morrone as Enzo the groundskeeper, Elizabeth Perkins as family matriarch Evelyn Winchester, and Indiana Elle as the couple’s daughter, Cecelia. The film also features Mark Grossman, Hannah Cruz, Megan Ferguson, and Ellen Tamaki.
Production took place in New Jersey from January to March. Paul Feig not only directed but also produced the project alongside Todd Lieberman and Laura Fischer under Hidden Pictures. The script was written by Rebecca Sonnenshine. Both Sweeney and Seyfried serve as executive producers, along with Freida McFadden and Alex Young. Composer Theodore Shapiro, known for his longtime collaboration with Feig, created the film’s score.
The newly released trailer gives viewers a taste of the film’s tense and eerie atmosphere, showing Sweeney’s character slowly uncovering the twisted reality inside the Winchester household. With Feig’s direction and McFadden’s best-selling source material, the movie looks set to deliver plenty of suspense and psychological drama.
