New Ben Affleck Batman Photo Drops, Snyder Promises More
Zack Snyder is giving fans a peek behind the scenes of his movies on Instagram. Since joining the platform a few months ago, he has been sharing photos from his past projects. His latest post grabbed attention with a Polaroid of Ben Affleck in the Batman suit.
The photo shows Affleck dressed as Batman during the early filming of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Snyder included a caption quoting Affleck: “Shot this on my Leica Monochrom with a 50mm — more to come.” Fans of the DC universe say it’s a nostalgic look back at the start of Affleck’s time as the Dark Knight.

Affleck played Batman in Batman v Superman and later appeared in Suicide Squad and Justice League. While his performance earned praise, the role was not without challenges. Affleck has talked about how difficult filming Justice League was for him.
Production changed significantly after Snyder had to step away following the death of his daughter. Joss Whedon took over to finish the movie. Reports later mentioned tension on set and creative disagreements. Critics, including Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter, said Affleck sometimes looked disconnected, noting he “seemed like he’d rather be anywhere else.”
After Justice League, Affleck decided to step away from both acting in and directing The Batman. He said he needed time to find the right story and to focus on himself. During that period, he also sought help for alcohol addiction and focused on recovery.
Years later, Snyder’s Instagram post reminds fans of the excitement when Affleck first donned the Batman suit. It’s a simple moment that reflects a role that inspired both admiration and debate.
