War Documentary With Perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes Hits Disney+
A new war documentary, Love+War, is now available to stream on Disney+. The film, directed and produced by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, tells the story of photojournalist Lynsey Addario and her career capturing conflict around the world.
Love+War had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2025. It later had a limited theatrical release on October 29 before airing on National Geographic on November 6. The documentary examines Addario’s work in war zones and the personal toll it takes on her life, including her role as a mother.
The film has received widespread acclaim. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a perfect 100% score based on 16 reviews. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, gave it a score of 71 out of 100, indicating generally favorable reviews.
Jason Gorber of Next Best Picture praised the film, writing: “A film that’s emotional, exhilarating, and essential, photographers capturing a photographer, game recognizing game, with highly skilled filmmakers finding another perfect subject in this internationally renowned photographer.”
Leslie Felperin of The Hollywood Reporter highlighted how the documentary stands out from other war photographer films: “What’s quite novel about this work, as opposed to any number of well-made docs about (mostly male) war photographers, is that it directly addresses how Addario’s job impacts her as a mother.”
Love+War is a visually striking and emotionally compelling film that celebrates the bravery and dedication of a photojournalist while exploring the challenges she faces in her personal life. Fans of documentaries and war reporting alike will find it gripping.
Now that it’s streaming on Disney+, it’s easier than ever for viewers to watch and experience Addario’s story.
