Kevin Spacey Reveals He’s Homeless, Living in Hotels Years After Scandal
Kevin Spacey has revealed that he is currently homeless and living in hotels and Airbnbs, seven years after a s**** assault scandal upended his career. The actor spoke to the Telegraph in an interview published Wednesday.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is,” Spacey said. “I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”
Spacey said his finances have suffered since the scandal, which began in 2017 when actor Anthony Rapp accused him of s**** misconduct. Several others, including actors and people who worked on House of Cards, later came forward with allegations.
While Spacey has always denied wrongdoing, the claims led to major career setbacks. Netflix cut ties with him, shelved his Gore Vidal biopic, and removed him from the final season of House of Cards. His role in All the Money in the World was reshot with Christopher Plummer.
“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” Spacey said. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.” He added that while his situation has been difficult, it has not led to bankruptcy. “You get through it,” he said of being “canceled” in Hollywood.
Spacey compared his current life to his early acting days. “In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was,” he said. “Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”
He was acquitted of s**** assault charges in a London criminal case in 2023 and found not liable in a 2022 civil lawsuit filed by Rapp in New York.
