‘My Hero Academia’s’ Final Season Hits IMDb Milestone with Episode 8
The eighth episode of My Hero Academia’s final season, titled Izuku Midoriya Rising, has become 2025’s highest-rated TV episode on IMDb, scoring an impressive 9.9 out of 10.
According to most fans worldwide, this episode marks the emotional peak of the story for the series’ most famous hero, Deku.
In the episode, just as it seemed Midoriya might reach Shigaraki, All For One returned, attempting to take what he believed was rightfully his.
Deku didn’t face the threat alone, though. Aizawa and the remaining heroes who could still fight joined him, creating a final push to stop the villains once and for all. “Izuku Midoriya Rising” is the climax of the series’ long battle, showing Deku supported by his friends and classmates in a united effort to end the chaos.
The episode also delivers a pivotal moment between Deku and Shigaraki, the two characters whose paths have collided since the very beginning of the show.
While Deku may not have fully saved Shigaraki, he was able to stop his rampage and bring an end to the war. It might have been too late to actually save Shigaraki from himself, but Deku still can consider this a victory because he brought an end to the rampage.
My Hero Academia’s final season will continue for three more episodes, with the series finale set to release on December 13, in Japan.
The last episodes will adapt the concluding chapters of Kohei Horikoshi’s manga, exploring the immediate aftermath of the war and how the characters move forward. While the main battle may be over, Deku’s story and the anime itself are not yet finished.
