A new trailer has been released for Goat, Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming sports comedy, and it gives the first real look at the film’s high-energy world.

The movie is directed by Tyree Dillihay and written by Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley. Sony Pictures Animation and Animation Magazine provided early details about the story and the cast.

The film follows Will Harris, a small goat who wants to become a professional roarball player. Roarball is a rough and fast sport played by different animal species, and Will sees it as his chance to prove himself.

In the film description shared by Sony Pictures Animation, the story is described as an original action-comedy that takes place in an all-animal universe. The official summary says, “smalls can ball!” and it focuses on Will trying to change the sport and show everyone that size does not matter.

Caleb McLaughlin voices Will, and he is joined by a large ensemble cast that includes Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, Nicola Coughlan, Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Eduardo Franco, Sherry Cola, Jelly Roll, and Jennifer Hudson, who plays Will’s mother.

Many of these characters are key players in the roarball league. Stephen Curry, who also serves as a producer on the film, voices a giraffe named Lenny Williamson. Gabrielle Union voices a star player known as the Face of the Thorns, while Nick Kroll, Nicola Coughlan, and David Harbour voice other athletes Will meets along the way.

The project began development years before its official announcement. Sony Pictures Animation first confirmed the movie in 2024, and most of the cast was revealed this year. The story has been described as a mix of comedy, heart, and fast-paced action, built around Will’s dream to become the greatest of all time.

With the trailer now out, fans can get a clearer idea of the film’s tone and playful humor. Sony plans to release Goat in the United States on February 13, 2026.
