“Dancing with the Stars” Finale Recap: See Who Took Home the Mirrorball Trophy

Robert Irwin has been crowned the champion of Dancing with the Stars Season 34. The wildlife conservationist, best known as the son of the late Steve Irwin, took home the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy alongside his professional partner Witney Carson during the live finale on Tuesday, November 25.

The finale drew an impressive 72 million votes, and Irwin and Carson earned the highest combined total from both judges and audience voting. They scored an 89 out of a possible 90 points, edging out the competition, which included Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy, Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa, and Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten.

Alix Earle and Chmerkovskiy earned a perfect 90 out of 90 points but finished in second place after votes were tallied. Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa came in third, Efron and Karagach in fourth, and Hendrix and Bersten in fifth. This season made history as the remaining couples performed three brand-new dances in the finale, including a judges’ choice, an instant dance challenge, and freestyle performances.

The night was packed with music and energy. All couples returned to the ballroom for additional performances set to Tyler, The Creator’s Sugar on My Tongue, Lady Gaga’s Applause, and Alexander Jean’s I Don’t Dance. The show opened with a choreographed number to Never Can Say Goodbye by The Communards, created by Joey Pizzi.

Ahead of the finale, Carson shared on TikTok that Irwin had been dealing with an injury. “Robert’s ribs have been killing him, and more will be revealed on Tuesday, and you guys can get a better idea of what we’ve been dealing with all week,” she said, giving fans a glimpse of the challenges behind the scenes.

Season 34 was a fiercely competitive one, and Irwin’s victory highlights both his dedication and the strong partnership he formed with Carson.
