Netflix Crashes During ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Premiere
Netflix faced technical issues when the first four episodes of “Stranger Things” season 5 premiered on Wednesday, November 26. Fans trying to watch the sci-fi horror series’ final season were temporarily locked out of the platform.
The problem didn’t last long. A Netflix spokesperson said, “Some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TV devices, but service recovered for all accounts within five minutes.”
Hours before the premiere, “Stranger Things” co-creator Ross Duffer shared on Instagram Stories that Netflix had increased bandwidth by 30 percent to prevent crashes, showing how seriously the streaming service prepared for the launch.
Season 5 of the series, produced by the Duffer Brothers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen, will have eight episodes released in three parts. The first volume dropped on November 26, the second is set for December 25, and the final episodes will air on December 31.

Returning stars include Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, and Jamie Campbell Bower. Joe Chrest and Amybeth McNulty have been promoted to main cast members, while newcomers Linda Hamilton, Jake Connelly, and Nell Fisher join the series.

Season 5 continues the story after the events of season 4 in the fall of 1987. The group must track down and defeat Vecna after the Rifts reopened in Hawkins. Their mission grows more dangerous when the military arrives in town and begins hunting Eleven.
As the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance approaches, the friends must fight a final battle. Eleven is training to face Vecna once and for all, while the others plan how to help her in this last mission.
