Dua Lipa’s Fiancé, Surges to the Front in Race for 007
Callum Turner has become the latest favourite to play James Bond, according to UK bookmakers. The British actor, who is engaged to singer Dua Lipa, has moved ahead of other contenders in the race to take over the iconic 007 role since Daniel Craig left in 2021.
Turner, 35, has been in talks for the part for some time, but his recent role as Elizabeth Olsen’s love interest has pushed speculation back into the spotlight.
Coral, a major betting company, reported a surge in bets on Turner over the past 24 hours. Their spokesperson, John Hill, said, “We’ve been knocked over with support for Callum Turner in our next James Bond betting over the last 24 hours. The British actor is now the red-hot favourite for the role.” The bookmaker has cut his odds from 5-2 to 7-4.
Other names still in the running include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, James Norton, and Martin Compston.
Coral lists Aaron and Theo as second favourites at 3-1, while Henry Cavill is 6-1. Further down the list are Anthony Boyle at 10-1, Harris Dickinson at 12-1, and both Jack Lowden and James Norton at 16-1. Regé-Jean Page has also reappeared after being out of the spotlight for months, but he has not shared any updates about Bond.
The future of the franchise has been uncertain since Daniel Craig’s departure. Amazon MGM Studios now owns the Bond series, and producer Barbara Broccoli has stepped back. A new film is confirmed, with Denis Villeneuve, director of Dune, and Steven Knight, known for Peaky Blinders, attached to the project.
