Josh Brolin recently shared his thoughts on Donald Trump, recalling the time they knew each other before Trump became president. In an interview with The Independent, Brolin said that having been a friend of Trump’s gives him a different perspective on the president.

ā€œI’m not scared of Trump, because even though he says he’s staying forever, it’s just not going to happen,ā€ Brolin said. ā€œAnd if it does, then I’ll deal with that moment. But having been a friend of Trump before he was president, I know a different guy.ā€

Brolin first met Trump around 2010 during the making of Oliver Stone’s film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Trump was originally supposed to appear in the movie, but his scenes were cut. Brolin said he was fascinated by Trump’s early business ventures, especially his efforts to build major developments in difficult areas during the late 1970s.

Looking at Trump’s time as president, Brolin described his leadership style as ā€œpower unmitigated.ā€ Despite this, he praised Trump’s marketing skills, saying, ā€œThere is no greater genius than him in marketing – he takes the weakness of the general population and fills it. And that’s why I think a lot of people feel that they have a mascot in him. I think it’s much less about Trump than it is about the general population and their need for validation.ā€

Brolin also expressed confidence that Trump will not attempt a third term in office, a topic that has been discussed in some political circles.
