elgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts has been given a six-month prison sentence, a €4,000 fine and a one-year driving ban.

The court says he was riding his motorbike in Pelt on two different days in April 2024 without a valid licence. He was not in court when the decision was made, so the sentence was given in his absence. He can still appeal, so he does not have to go to prison right away.

The court explains that Schoenaerts lost his licence back in September 2021 in Antwerp because of drug use while driving.

He was supposed to take special recovery tests and new exams to get his licence back, but he never did. The police say that during the checks in Pelt he did not cooperate and, at one point last week, he even refused to take a breath test. That incident is still separate from this new conviction.

The actor has already been convicted several times in the past. The police court in Beringen says this new case adds more problems to his record.

Meanwhile, Schoenaerts is set to play Krem of the Yellow Hill in the upcoming Supergirl movie. That character is the main villain in the comic series the film is based on.
