‘Supergirl’ Trailer Description Surfaces Online Ahead of CCXP
Fans are excited online as rumors about the first Supergirl trailer have started circulating ahead of CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil, which runs from December 4–7. Several DC-focused fansites report receiving early descriptions of the teaser from reviewers who had access to it.
According to @fandompulse, @BeyondReporter and similar accounts the teaser shows a fun and action-packed side of Supergirl. “The teaser opens with a surprisingly grounded and comedic beat: we see Krypto the Superdog casually lifting his leg to pee on a space rock. The camera pans to Kara (Supergirl), who is waking up looking disheveled, groggy, and clearly nursing a massive hangover.”
“As she tries to gather herself, the iconic sound of Blondie kicks in, shifting the energy instantly. The trailer explodes into a fast-paced montage of stylized action. We see Kara blasting through cosmic environments, delivering brutal punches to alien threats, and flying with aggressive speed. The vibe is distinct from Superman—it’s grittier, louder, and colorful, focusing on a Supergirl who is ready to fight.”

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira. Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, with Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham in supporting roles. The story follows Supergirl as she travels across the galaxy on a mission of revenge. James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios are producing the film.
A Supergirl standalone film has been in development since August 2018 as part of the DC Extended Universe. The character first appeared on screen in 2023’s The Flash, played by Sasha Calle. When Gunn and Safran became co-CEOs of DC Studios in October 2022, plans for the film were updated.
The new project was officially announced in January 2023 as an adaptation of the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Ana Nogueira was brought on as the writer by November 2023, Alcock was cast in January 2024, and Gillespie joined as director in May 2024. Filming took place from January to May at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London and in Scotland.
Supergirl is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 26, 2026, as part of DC Universe’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
