Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is almost here, and early reactions are very positive. The new season follows Percy and his friends as they head into the Sea of Monsters after Camp Half-Blood’s protective borders are broken.

Percy’s main goal is to save his friend Grover and retrieve the Golden Fleece, the only thing that can protect the camp. He is joined by Annabeth, Clarisse, and his cyclops half-brother Tyson. Together, they face familiar enemies, including Luke and the Titan Kronos, who have plans to destroy both the camp and Olympus.

The second season will premiere on December 10, on Disney+ and Hulu, with two episodes available at launch. The show has already had its world premiere, and critics are weighing in. On Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 currently has a perfect 100% rating.

Early reviews suggest the season builds on the strengths of the first one. Critics say the story feels bigger and more adventurous, with the main cast showing more emotional growth as they take on new challenges.

The action scenes are fast-paced, the monsters are exciting, and the mix of humor and adventure continues to work well. While some reviewers note that the series doesn’t take major risks or try to subvert expectations, most agree it delivers a fun and engaging continuation of Percy Jackson’s world.

Four episodes in, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is a satisfying improvement over an already rock-solid Season 1.

Scobell embodies this iconic character without breaking a sweat, even if audiences might feel his interpretation lacks hard edges. Season 2 also squanders the potential to subvert expectations, and ultimately Percy Jackson plays it safe.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians”’ second outing is a vast, globetrotting adventure, and one whose trio of leads grow suitably older and more emotionally mature to navigate.

Whether or not you like the show, I suspect, will be strongly influenced by how much you loved Rick Riordan’s series as a kid – which I did, a lot – but the action is snappy, the monsters pleasingly disgusting and the humour still zingy.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is a magical return to a world where mythology isn’t just a thing you learned about and forgot. It’s bigger. It’s cheekier. It’s bolder. And it might just be better than Season 1.

Lissete Lanuza Sáenz

Overall, it looks like Season 2 expands the story and makes the mythology feel larger and more exciting. The show continues to appeal to fans of Rick Riordan’s books while also drawing in new viewers with thrilling adventures and strong performances.
