Final Trailer Released for ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’
HBO has released the final trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the highly anticipated prequel to Game of Thrones. The series is based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas and follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, known as Dunk, and his young squire, Aegon Targaryen, nicknamed Egg.

Created by Ira Parker and Martin, the show stars Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. The series also features Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as the Dornish puppeteer Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen.
The story takes place long before the events of Game of Thrones, showing Dunk’s journey as a hedge knight and his relationship with the young Targaryen prince.
Production began in June 2024 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and wrapped in September. HBO announced that the first season will consist of six episodes and will premiere on January 18, 2026, on both HBO and HBO Max. Even before the debut, the network renewed the series for a second season, which is expected to arrive in 2027.
HBO first teased the series on August 4, 2024, as part of a preview of upcoming original programming. A “first look” teaser followed in November 2024. The official poster was revealed on October 6.
