Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the minds behind South Park, are teaming up with Kendrick Lamar for a new musical comedy film that insiders are calling outrageously funny.

The still-untitled movie, known internally as Whitney Springs, has been generating buzz for its provocative premise and creative team.

According to sources, the story centers on a young Black man who works as a slave reenactor at a plantation museum, only to discover that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his. Some insiders note that the official logline may have been updated since its initial description.

The film is directed by Trey Parker and written by Vernon Chatman, with Parker and Matt Stone producing through their company, Park County. Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free are co-producing under their PGLang banner. Principal photography began in October 2024 in Pomona, California, and the movie is planned for release by Paramount Pictures in the United States.

Originally slated for a July 4, 2025 release, the film was postponed to March 20, 2026 after Lamar and Free requested major reshoots. Recently, Paramount announced it would miss that date as well, citing Lamar’s possible touring schedule. Despite delays, the studio plans to release it in theaters once it is completed.

This project marks the first full feature collaboration between Parker, Stone, Lamar, and Free, though the team previously worked together on the music video for Lamar’s single The Heart Part 5, where Parker and Stone developed deepfake technology through their AI studio Deep Voodoo. This film is also the first to be produced through both PGLang and Park County.

The movie was first reported by Deadline Hollywood in January 2022, with Brian Robbins, CEO of Paramount Pictures, praising Chatman’s script as “one of the funniest and most original scripts” he had read. Parker officially signed on as director in March 2023, after earlier delays caused by commitments to South Park.

Given the combination of Parker and Stone’s signature satire with Kendrick Lamar’s creative vision, Whitney Springs promises to push boundaries in comedy while tackling challenging subject matter.
