Netflix has released the first trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, confirming that the live-action series will return in 2026.

The teaser introduces fan-favorite Earthbender Toph, played by Miya Cech, who joins Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), and Sokka (Ian Ousley) as part of Team Avatar. The information comes from Netflix’s official announcement.

The live-action adaptation reimagines the classic Nickelodeon animated series. It follows Aang, the young Avatar, as he learns to master water, earth, fire, and air to bring balance to a world threatened by the Fire Nation. In Season 2, after saving the Northern Water Tribe from the Fire Nation, Aang, Katara, and Sokka set out to convince the Earth King to join their fight against Fire Lord Ozai.

Christine Boylan, known for Poker Face and Once Upon a Time, is serving as executive producer and writer, while Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space, Stranger Things) is executive producer and director. The directing team also includes Anu Menon, Amit Gupta, and Hiromi Kamata.

Season 1 of the series debuted on February 22, 2024, and quickly became a hit for Netflix. According to the streamer, it was the number one English-language TV show worldwide, amassing 41.1 million views in just 11 days. The show ranked number one in 76 countries and was in the top 10 in 92. Following this success, Netflix renewed the series for Seasons 2 and 3.

Executive producers Boylan and Raisani shared, “We’re looking forward to working with all of our actors again and digging into the deeper, more complicated relationships that develop as their journey continues in Season 2. We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original, and explore some of the stories that the animation didn’t. Mainly, we’re looking forward to seeing our gang all together again.”

New cast members joining for Season 2 include Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Dolly de Leon as Lo and Li, Lily Gao as Ursa, Madison Hu as Fei, and Dichen Lachman as Yangchen. For Season 3, Jon Jon Briones will play Piandao and Tantoo Cardinal will appear as Hama.
