Andy Dick Collapses on Hollywood Street in Suspected Overdose Incident
Comedian Andy Dick had a frightening incident in Hollywood on Tuesday when he apparently suffered a drug overdose on the street.
TMZ obtained photos showing Dick, 59, slumped over on a set of cement stairs in broad daylight. His signature glasses were lying on the ground as friends and bystanders tried to help him.
Eyewitnesses said several of Dick’s friends rushed to his side, with one shouting, “wake up.” People nearby called for help, and someone asked for Narcan, a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses.
Dick was given the life-saving shot at the scene. A representative for the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that they responded to an overdose involving a 59-year-old man, but he was not taken to a hospital. Often, when Narcan is used, patients regain consciousness and refuse further medical attention.
After the incident, Dick told TMZ that he was alive and feeling “relieved to be okay” but declined to explain exactly what happened.
Dick has been open about his struggles with addiction. In a 2016 interview with Vice, he said he had been to rehab 20 times to address drug and alcohol issues.
The comedian also has a criminal record. In November 2022, he was convicted of sexual battery for an incident in 2018 involving an Uber driver. He served 90 days in prison and is required to register as a sex offender.
