Idris Elba’s Wax Figure Is So Lifelike It Unlocked His Phone
Idris Elba was left stunned when his wax figure at Madame Tussauds London proved just how realistic it is. The actor’s doppelgänger was so lifelike that it even managed to unlock his phone using Face ID, a feat that surprised both Elba and his fans.
The figure was revealed on December 19, and captures Elba in incredible detail, including the sharp suit he wore to meet King Charles. In a video shared by the museum, Elba can be seen studying the wax figure and saying, “Haha, look at this guy. I don’t know what to say, I’m speechless.”

For fun, Elba called his mother, Eve Elba, and tried using the wax figure to unlock his phone. To everyone’s surprise, it worked. His mother was equally amazed, exclaiming, “Oh my god!” when she saw it.
Elba also released a statement expressing his gratitude to the museum and the artists who created the statue. “It’s truly an honor to be recognized in this way and even more special to know this other version of me will be standing tall in London,” he said. “So, even when I’m away, a part of me is always at home.”
He compared the experience of creating the wax figure to preparing for a movie role. “The process has been fascinating. It’s not dissimilar to prepping for a movie role—working with talented artists to flesh out the character, getting the costume just right, but this time it’s for me,” he added.
Idris Elba’s wax figure is now on display at Madame Tussauds, giving fans a chance to see just how lifelike it is.
