This ‘Stranger Things’ Episode Becomes One of the Series’ Lowest-Rated Episodes Ever
Stranger Things’ Season 5 Volume 2 dropped three new episodes on Netflix on Christmas Day, building up to the big fight with Vecna. One of these episodes, Episode 7, titled “The Bridge,” has now become one of the lowest-rated in the show’s history.
Fans were surprised by several plot points in this episode, including the breakup between Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers. The Duffer Brothers confirmed the split, but it seemed even the actors were unaware during filming.
One fan wrote, “Yeah, Natalia and Charlie didn’t seem to know that Jancy broke up in that scene. They didn’t mention a breakup, so I’m not taking it too seriously until I see the epilogue.”
Episode 7 also features a heartfelt moment with Will Byers, which received mixed reactions. Some viewers praised the emotional scenes, while others criticized the focus on his personal life. A fan commented, “Trust Netflix to promote the gay agenda, whatever the pricetag. They’ve destroyed Stranger Things. What does his being gay have to do with beating Vecna?”
On review sites, Episode 7 earned an 84% critic rating and a 73% audience score. This makes it the second-lowest-rated episode of Stranger Things, above only “The Lost Sister.” Despite the ratings, many fans applauded Sadie Sink’s performance and her chemistry with Caleb McLaughlin. One fan shared, “I’m lucky to love Rovickie and Lumax because the material is great.”
Viewers also enjoyed the scenes with Dustin and Steve, although some felt the pacing was uneven. Another fan wrote, “Dustin and Steve are my favorite thing about Stranger Things. Just so much complexity and emotion in this storyline, and the acting is incredible. I’m in awe of Gaten and Joe this season.”
As the season moves toward its finale on December 31, some worry that the ending might disappoint, drawing comparisons to the controversial conclusion of Game of Thrones. Overall, Season 5 so far has an 84% Tomatometer score from 117 critic reviews and a 65% audience rating based on over 2,500 ratings.
