A new trailer has just dropped for The Rip, a crime thriller led by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The film is directed by Joe Carnahan and is set to arrive on Netflix later this month.

According to information shared by Netflix and earlier reports, The Rip centers on a group of Miami police officers who stumble upon a hidden house filled with millions of dollars in cash. What starts as a shocking discovery quickly turns tense.

As word of the money spreads, trust inside the group begins to break down. Each cop starts to question who they can really rely on as pressure from the outside grows.

The movie brings together a large cast. Alongside Affleck and Damon, the film stars Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell, and Lina Esco. Affleck plays Detective Sergeant JD Byrne, while Damon appears as Lieutenant Dane Dumars. Yeun and Taylor portray fellow detectives, and Chandler takes on the role of a DEA agent.

The project was first announced in mid-2024, with Affleck and Damon attached both as actors and producers under their Artists Equity banner. Joe Carnahan not only directed the movie but also worked on the story with Michael McGrale. Netflix later picked up the film for distribution after it was shopped around.

Filming began in October 2024 in Los Angeles and wrapped later that year, with some extra scenes shot in New Jersey. The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on January 16.
