Gwyneth Paltrow Makes Rare Remark About Ex Ben Affleck

Gwyneth Paltrow briefly touched on her past with Ben Affleck during a recent podcast chat, and the moment quickly stood out. She shared the comment while appearing on Amy Poehler’s podcast, “Good Hang,” which is the source of the remarks.

The conversation was focused on the late actor Robin Williams. When Poehler asked Paltrow about her connection to him, Paltrow explained that she only spent a short time around Williams years ago.

That was during the release of “Good Will Hunting” in the late 1990s. She hinted that she was dating someone closely tied to the movie at the time, without saying Affleck’s name directly. Paltrow said, “I only got to know him a bit when ‘Good Will Hunting’ came out because I was dating one of the people who wrote that movie and was in that movie.”

Poehler quickly joked that the reference was obvious and praised Affleck’s performance. Paltrow agreed and added, “I love that movie. It’s a perfect movie. I love it so much.”

Paltrow and Affleck were together in the late 1990s. Their relationship began not long after her breakup with Brad Pitt. During their time as a couple, they worked on movies together and were often in the public eye. They ended their relationship in 2000 and later went their separate ways.

More details about their time together have surfaced over the years. In the book “Gwyneth: The Biography,” author Amy Odell described the relationship as unstable at times.

According to Odell, Affleck faced personal struggles during that period, including issues with drinking and gambling. The book claims Paltrow’s friends were concerned and felt she was not always treated with care. Odell wrote that Affleck often chose to spend time with friends instead of focusing on the relationship.

Paltrow has also spoken openly about Affleck in past interviews. During a 2023 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she described him as “technically excellent” in bed. Since then, both stars have moved on with their lives.

Paltrow later had two children with Coldplay singer Chris Martin before their split. She is now married to writer and director Brad Falchuk. Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner for many years and later married Jennifer Lopez, with both marriages ending in divorce.
