Pop icon Britney Spears announced on Instagram Thursday night that she won’t be performing in the United States again, citing what she called “extremely sensitive reasons.”

Alongside a throwback photo of herself sitting at a white Yamaha piano, Spears shared a heartfelt message. “Sending this piano to my son this year!!! Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes… but I walked through the fire to save my life,” she wrote.

While she ruled out future U.S. performances, Spears hinted at possible shows overseas. “I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,” she added.

“He’s a huge star and I’m so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!” Spears did not clarify which son she meant, though she has two children, Sean Preston and Jayden, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears’ last live performance in the U.S. was in October 2018, when she closed her Piece of Me tour at the Formula One Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

She had been set to return to Las Vegas in 2019 with a second residency titled Domination, following the success of her first Vegas show, Britney Spears: Piece of Me, which ended in 2017. However, Spears postponed the residency indefinitely due to family commitments.
