The Spider-Man Chris Pratt Loves Most Has Been Revealed
Chris Pratt is opening up about his favorite superheroes and his own journey through Hollywood. While promoting his new sci-fi film, Mercy, Pratt revealed to Josh Horowitz that his favorite Spider-Man is Tom Holland.
Pratt is best known for playing Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He admitted that landing the role back in 2013 wasn’t easy. At the time, Pratt had gained a lot of weight for a comedy called Delivery Man with Vince Vaughn. He told Horowitz that he had “gotten up to 300 pounds” for the role.
When Pratt met with Marvel boss Kevin Feige, he was shown a photo of himself from Zero Dark Thirty and asked, “Can you do that again?” Pratt said he was desperate to get the job and promised he could transform. “Dude, I’ll kick that guy’s a** in seven months,” he recalled thinking. Soon after, the studio called to offer him the role.
Before becoming Star-Lord, Pratt auditioned for other heroes. He tried out for Captain America, Thor, and even sent an audition tape for Superman in Man of Steel. He filmed the Superman audition at his mother’s house in Washington and joked, “Dude, I would not cast that guy as Superman.”
There have been rumors that Pratt might try Batman now that his friend James Gunn is in charge of DC Studios. Pratt quickly shut that down. He sent Gunn a photoshopped picture of himself in a Batman cowl, and Gunn’s reply was simply, “Haha.” Pratt explained, “I don’t think I would be right for that.”
Pratt’s career has come a long way since his early days as Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation. He proved he could handle action with the Jurassic World trilogy, playing Owen Grady. He also voiced major animated characters, including Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Garfield in The Garfield Movie.
Currently, Pratt is starring in Mercy, a near-future sci-fi thriller directed by Timur Bekmambetov. He plays a detective accused of a violent crime who must prove his innocence in a dangerous world. Rebecca Ferguson, known for Dune and Mission: Impossible, stars alongside him.
Outside of filming, Pratt enjoys spending time on his farm and balancing work with family life. According to his interview with Horowitz, he continues to mix action, comedy, and voice projects while staying connected to his roots.
Fans are eager to see whether Pratt will return as Star-Lord or explore other superhero roles. “I love Star-Lord, but I’m always open to new challenges,” he said, leaving the door open for future adventures.
The source of this information is Chris Pratt himself, from his interview with Josh Horowitz during the press tour for Mercy.
